FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS … by Lindel Caine
This image was inspired by the festival of Tihar in Nepal, where I live. This festival is also known as Diwali in India. Tihar is a religious celebration lasting several days. On one evening of the festival, Laxmi Puja, many butter lamps are lit not only in temples but also in the doorways and windows of family homes and on pathways leading to them throughout the country. This festival is a time of joy and is visually very beautiful.

The second biggest festival of Nepal has Started! That is right! Tihar, also known as ‘Dipawali’ or ‘Festival of Lights’ starts from today (1st November ‘13). Tihar is a Five Day festival, but sometimes it gets reduced to 3 days (like last year and the year before that). This year, Tihar is on for…
